记者从中国地震台网中心了解到，两次5.2级地震震中相距仅1公里，地震震中附近人口密集，在20公里范围之内可以监测到245万人；100公里范围内，人口达到了680万。

此外，18日晚这次地震的影响范围非常远，广东、广西多地网友都反馈感受到了强烈震动。

中国地震台网中心研究员 韩颜颜：这两次地震时间间隔约21小时，属于同一区域，是区域构造应力长期积累后集中释放的过程。

从历史上来看 短期内连续发生两次5级地震罕见吗？

韩颜颜：短时间内接连发生两次5级以上地震的情况不多见，但也并不特殊。在2013年10月31日，吉林前郭就先后发生5.5级和5.0级地震，间隔大概7分钟；2012年9月7日，云南彝良发生5.7级地震，间隔约1小时，又发生了5.6级地震。

降雨和地震之间有关联吗？

韩颜颜：通过现场调查，以及对当地水位、水温的观测，我们初步判断，此次地震活动与降雨没有直接关联性。

两次地震都发生在夜间 这种情况常见吗？

韩颜颜：从统计层面来说，地震多发生在夜间并不是一个有规律的现象。大家之所以会有“地震常发生在夜间”的印象，可能是因为夜间发生地震时，大家的印象会更深刻。

震区居民应注意什么？

韩颜颜：此次地震活动后，余震可能还会持续一段时间，后续可能会伴随有感地震，可能对当地建筑和居民造成二次伤害。在此提醒震区的居民，要远离老旧危房、土坯房、围墙等危险建筑，尽量避免靠近这类建筑或在附近逗留。
